Just read on a prominent news website. Heard that its about to start mid next year and Mitchell Hurwitz is happy to start writing the scripts.

And also one more surprise, it said a couple of well-known writers from 30-Rock has signed-in for the continuation of our beloved AD show…

Can’t wait… Wonder what would happen to the AD movie though.

Btw, they were talking about Jennifer Aniston for a role in an AD movie. However, if they go ahead with that what do you think will be the best role for her? I think she could easily be Michael’s dead wife Tracey. Since AD is so clever on flashbacks, we can expect some great moments of Tracey and Michael (not to mention baby George Michael) lol

i dont really care what happens, as long as i get to see more AD. idk if hollywood would make jason bateman and jennifer aniston love interests twice (“The Switch”)

Question by Chrissy: What do I need to know about server- side development?
I’m thinking about starting a website using server-side developing but I don’t even know where to start, The website would be an RPG and would need to remember player profiles and their actions.

I would like to know what I should research before starting. I don’t know how the languages work or if building an RPG from scratch would be way too hard for someone with little to no web experience.

The only web experience I’ve had is a website designed the cheating way (using pagebuilder on Yahoo Geocites) and using (not writing) Java scripts.
I’ve already had plenty of experience in HTML

why would you even think about building an rpg with no type of experience in it.

those types of games take teams of programmers who have been working for years and years doing that kinda work….not something just one person does.

i would suggest to start slow……maybe trying doing a simple html homepage….then get into more advanced html and doing full websites.

Then work on css and javascript and work up to actual programming with php, java or something like that.

after that working with php and java and databases

you will need those later if you decide to make your own rpg

if you are good with php then working with mysql
should be easy. you can get some great tutorials from google or stop by a bookstore…there are some great books that can help you get familiar with it.

Question by Ryan E: Cross platform & browswer website text rendering solution?
I found something a while ago that promised to provide cross browser and cross platform text rendering, so fonts that are not installed on a client’s machine can be used on a website. I think it was powered by javascript. However, I know that it is not the “typeface.js” solution, so please do not provide that as an answer.

Most embedded fonts are using a flash type app to do it. IE and Maxthon browsers support Microsoft’s WEFT:

Question by : Resources needed as a Web Developer?
I recently graduated High school (early, with a 3.8 GPA) and I’m now ready to move onto doing what I love; web development.

In the summer I will be enrolled in a community college, completing my associates degree before moving onto a university for a bachelors in Computer Science. However, because I don’t have a degree, I feel that it’s going to be hard to get a job or internship doing web development, and I don’t want to wait until I graduate to get some real experience. What I want to know is, what are some resources that are required to do web development apart from a degree? What can I do that can boost my resume/cv?

I’ve looked into PHP/HTML/CSS certification, and from what I’ve heard, they don’t have any weight when it comes to getting a job. I have strong knowledge of these languages, but I don’t know how to show it on a resume or in a job interview. Should I make a portfolio website, with some scripts that I’ve written? Should I get certification? Or should I just wait until I have a degree?

I need help from someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to web development.
I have personal experience on the net but i am not a pro.

Recently I decided to make a website to help people get more known on Youtube.
I have done all the designing and it is really turning out great.
Since I am using webs.com as my host we cannot use php and such things that i need to input a feature. (i have a premium account) This what they say:

“Premium service customers can use CGI/Perl. However, this type of programming is not available for free account holders, nor do we support the use of MySQL, MSACCESS or PHP. You can, however, link to remote scripts from your website.”

I was wondering if there was a way i could make a “points system”, whenever someone logs in or posts a comment they could get rewarded with points. Someone please help me achieve this.

You’ll probably want to upgrade your account. I can’t really see a way of doing this without using some type of scripting language. Even without a database, you could use a text file to store the data but you would need a way to write to this file (by using php or another language).

We want a scalable solution that is affordable but robust enough to handle an sharp increase in demand.

1) Performance – We want our hosting to be able to scale quickly to handle an increase in traffic.
2) Email – We will be sending our members critical event notification emails that we don’t want listed as SPAM. Anything we can do in the hosting environment to improve this would be great.
3) Security – We don’t have full-time staff, so it would be great if more of the IT maintenance / updates / monitoring that can be done by the hosting provider.
4) Cost – we have a limited budget, and we can’t get into a long-term contract.

Technical details: Windows hosting w/ SQL required.
